Holy Mackerel!

In the words of Angie's Grandpa Formanack "Holy Mackerel!" This is a phrase that I have picked up from him and use on a daily basis :)

I was talking with a friend of mine today and I was telling him how humbling it is to see everyone's love pouring out. In just 2 weeks you guys have raised over $1700 dollars for me to go to Nepal. It is so awesome for me to see your guys love pouring out. With the money raised I have paid off the airfare and am now working towards the hotel and food.

Speaking of the hotel...it looks like a pretty cool place. Here is a link to the hotels web page if your interested.

I met with Mike again last week to go over some of the WILD Leadership material. A big part of it is Old Testament character studies. The one we focused on last week was David. A big take away from that study was "hope." I mean if a man like David (Adulterer, murderer, liar) can be called "a man after God's own heart" there is hope for a helpless sinner like me.

To update you on what I've been up to in the last week as far as the trip goes. I worked on some packing logistics and got a list of things I need to pack, I lined up a large suitcase to borrow (thanks Bob and Debbie) I called the local travel nurse to see what I needed to safeguard myself while traveling, and I went to see my physicians assistant to follow through with the travel nurses recommendations.  I doesn't seem like a lot when I type it out...but it sure seems like i did a lot in the last week.

To reiterate the obvious...You guys rock! There is no way I would be able to do this with out all of you supporting me and I sincerely thank you for that!

Many blessings

Namaste!

Boy it has been awesome to see the support from all of you. As of yesterday you all have raised 25% of my goal, I truly feel blessed to have you all supporting me.

So far I have met with Mike a few times concerning our trip. I have had a lot of questions that go like this, "What about hats? Can I wear a hat?" "It's going to be pretty nice there, can I wear shorts?" "Do they have coffee?" "Can I wear my Chuck Taylor's?"

I know pretty basic stuff, but this is so different from anything I have done before that even these basic questions are important to me. To answer your questions...Hats , sure. Shorts, not in public. Coffee, yes! Chucks, of course.

I'm also starting to get more information about our mission while we're there. Mike really wants to get a core group trained up in the spiritual leadership material and the world view material so they feel comfortable enough to teach it after we leave. This is very important to WILD Ministries, as well as the strategic planning that we will be doing with the WILD Nepal Team.

Thank you again for the support and continue to keep Mike and I in your prayers. I will be posting on Fridays leading up to our departure, and try to post daily while we are in Nepal.

In Christ,

Tym

Support Letter

Greetings!

I pray this letter finds you in good spirits. I’d like to tell you about an adventure I am going to be taking November 2014. I will be traveling with Wise Intentional Leadership Development Ministries (WILD) to Kathmandu, Nepal to train a core group of young Christians in the WILD leadership material, WILD world view material and possibly youth ministry, if time allows. WILD material is, “Simple, understandable, culturally transferable leadership development material from the Christian perspective. WILD put the material together so that it is extremely affordable, at little to no cost, so that we can develop those at the grass roots level. To change a culture, you have to develop the grass roots.”  ~Mike Prom

Our goal is to train this core group so they can teach their fellow countrymen. This comes from 2 Timothy 2:2 - ¹ You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, ² and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (ESV)

We’ll be focusing on building relationships and training the future spiritual leaders of Nepal. Mike has tasked me with teaching the leadership material, while he will focus on the world view material. We will also be doing some strategic planning with the WILD Nepal National Team. “The world view helps Christians to understand and know why they should believe what they are supposed to believe. It compares different world views to Christianity so they are able to defend and explain their beliefs to other world views such as Hinduism, Islam, Atheism etc.” ~Mike Prom

I am writing to you for support, both through prayer and monetarily.  The cost for the trip is $2500. If you feel led to support my trip there are several ways you can send help. You can snail mail a check, with my name in the memo to: WILD, P.O. Box 662, Rhinelander, WI 54501.  Gifts are encouraged by November 8th.

On the WILD webpage (http://www.wildleadership.org/) at the bottom of the page is a “Donate Now” button. You can donate online and send Mike a follow-up email to let him know your donation is for me at wildministries@gmail.com.  All donations are tax deductible.

One major need though is prayer, Nepal is a Hindu/Buddhist country and it is a “Restricted Country” in regards to Christianity, we cannot just go out on the sidewalks and preach the gospel. An email or text message with a note of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

It is not uncommon for me to be gone for 2-3 weeks at a time for fire assignments, but this is different and I am a little nervous about being half way around the world, away from my family. A good friend of mine told me to look at this as a “Fire assignment for God!”  I pray that when we leave Nepal that we would leave people on fire…for GOD!
May you be blessed in the coming days.
